U3A Day (National Website)
Wednesday 3 June 2020
We know the value of the U3A to our lives, and the part each U3A plays in contributing to the quality of life of Third Agers within our communities. Let’s help to draw attention to what is available for Third Agers across the country through the experience of U3A.
There are many U3As who have already set up Working Groups and started identifying plans for Wednesday 3 June 2020, our first national U3A Day.
Regional Trustee Sue Stokes, who is helping to coordinate the day said, “This is the opportunity for every U3A – individually or in groupings – to help deliver one of the objectives of the Third Age Trusts Development Plan to Raise the Profile of the U3A Movement.”How many times have we heard the response “U3A – what’s that?” On National U3A Day members are encouraged to showcase what happens in their U3A, challenging negative perceptions of older adults and inviting other Third Agers in the community to learn about the contribution U3A makes to the quality of life of retired people.”
To help you to prepare for June 3, the national website has a dedicated section here
Early in the New Year we will be sending details of how to register your participation in U3A Day. To share your ideas, and to gain insights as to what other U3As are planning, please join the dedicated closed Facebook page. Press link below: https://www.facebook.com/groups/485363562065891/
You can also email enquiries to email@example.com
We will be adding items for the Planning for Success Toolkit, including templates for marketing and merchandise items, in the coming months.
CANCELLATION OF U3A BARN DANCE
Saturday, 14th March 2020
in light of the news today and the impending anticipated rapid spread of the virus in the UK I have decided to cancel tomorrows Barn dance (to be held Saturday 14th March).Country dancing is an activity where people mix and touch and given the average age of our organisation I feel the risk of person to person transmission, should there be any person attending who has unknowingly contracted the virus, is too high to justify a non-essential activity.
Apologies for the late notice, it has been a difficult decision to make.
You will of, course be refunded your ticket payment. I will be at the April coffee morning, please bring your ticket to me for a refund.
Best wishes, Ann Mundy
