The SEWSOCIAL needlecraft group will be starting again on Wednesday 18th September. We meet weekly at Freehay Village Hall 1pm to 3pm.
I run occasional workshops but on the whole members work on their own projects (dressmaking/upholstery/cross stitch/embroidery/crochet & knitting etc.) within this knowledgeable, supportive & friendly environment.
With my recycling hat on, I would like to arrange a group within the group, of people to make MORSBAGS. These are shopping bags, sewn from recycled/donated fabric, bedding/curtains etc. They are given away free, with the aim of reducing single use plastic waste. I have given some out during a previous coffee morning. I will do this again but would like to incorporate the making of them and then donate to local shops and the Cheadle Foodbank. So if you have a sewing machine that is gathering dust at the back of your cupboard, you could come and join us making these very simple tote bags. I will provide the labels.
I would also like to put a call out to anyone who has any fabric they can donate to the cause. I can collect from the local area.
If you enjoy needlecrafts of any kind, do come along and check us out. Tea/coffee & biscuits are available.
